| 22 Mar 2026 | Other | Since February 28, 2026, the cruise ships Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 5 have been stranded in Abu Dhabi and Doha, respectively, due to regional conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A number of passengers and non-essential crew members were successfully evacuated via a complex repatriation operation using charter flights from the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. While initial reports suggested no cancellations, TUI Cruises have since cancelled multiple sailings through late March. Both vessels are currently operating with a minimal crew and are slated to circumnavigate Africa to return to Europe; Mein Schiff 4 is scheduled to pick up passengers in Cape Town in April, and Mein Schiff 5 is expected to return to the eastern Mediterranean by late April. No injuries or pollution were reported. |
